Beneath The Sweet Coating

Being in and out of relationships had made me realised that respect is as important as trust and the latter is as important as love in a relationship.
What if your other half has been seeing a girl/guy behind your back and the duo dated without you knowing and on one fine day, you found out from a third party.
Why was it intentionally kept from you? I personally think that if your other half had respected you, he/she would have at least the courtesy to keep you in the know.
I agree that there has never been the rule that someone attached/married can't go on 1-on-1 dates. But for that, you have to be extremely clear on where to draw the line. Don't be all secretive and treat your other half with the respect he/she deserves! The purpose of keeping it under wraps simply suggest something fishy. I believe that in this modern society, we often find ourselves in situations where we meet other important people and that's no reason to suffer persecution from one's partner.
For example, in the newspaper article, "No sex, just talk", where a boss treats his secretary as his confidante and was accused of keeping a mistress, his suspicious actions has no doubt caused this accusation. I agree that there are some people we are just more comfortable opening ourselves to on certain matters. He/she need not be your other half. Just respect things the way they are, if this is so, so be it! But there was no need to keep it 'private'.
This is an example of a common relationship issue and also the reason why it's good to stay single if there's no basic respect in your relationship.
On a lighter note, my dear single pals, valentine's day can be enjoyable too. When you see a couple in the streets, there's no need to be envious. Instead, you should envy yourself as you are freed from relationship woes at least!
